The ICEM Night

a journey through Hamburg, a celebration of community

What makes this evening special is not just its destination, but the path we take to get there. The ICEM Night at Süllberg is not a typical social event – it’s an experience in motion. A night that tells a story: about Hamburg, about Germany, about what it means to come together.

We start where Hamburg breathes: on the River Elbe. In homage to the traditional „Butterfahrten“ – low-cost boat trips, that were once a vital part of northern Germany’s working-class culture – we board a ship and leave the city behind. With music, conversation, and the skyline drifting past, the evening begins just as ICEM intends: relaxed, inclusive, and shared.

Upon arrival in Blankenese, we walk – the way it’s done here – a fifteen-minute climb through quiet streets, side by side. It’s a simple, but meaningful act: time to move, to talk, to be present. A typically German moment between nature, rhythm, and connection.

At the top of Süllberg, what began on the water continues: an evening that brings people together. Under the open sky, we celebrate what unites us – with a culinary journey through German cuisine, with music that speaks across cultures, and an atmosphere inspired by the great opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games: joyful, diverse, and genuinely warm.

This night is not the end of a conference day – it’s a highlight. And maybe the beginning of something new.
