Patrick Esume
Patrick “Coach” Esume (born in Hamburg in 1974) is one of Europe’s most prominent American football experts and one of the few European coaches with coaching experience in the NFL. He worked within the coaching staff of the Oakland Raiders and Cleveland Browns, where he gained insights into the training methods, decision-making processes and performance structures of the world’s top football league.
At the same time, Esume has shaped European football for many years as a successful head coach and trainer. With his teams, he has won, among other things, the German Bowl, the Euro Bowl, the World Bowl, the French championship and the World Games, making him one of the few European coaches to have won virtually every major title in international American football.
With this background as a long-standing coach at the highest level of performance, he possesses extensive experience in high-performance structures, talent development and team leadership under pressure.
Furthermore, Esume is known to a wide audience as an NFL expert and analyst on RTL, where he explains complex game situations in a clear, analytical and entertaining manner.
In his lectures, Esume applies his experience from elite sport, coaching and high-performance organisations to other high-risk and high-pressure fields. He focuses on leadership in exceptional situations, resilience, a culture of learning from mistakes, and decision-making ability in critical moments.
For ICEM 2026 in Hamburg, he will thus bring a practical perspective developed from elite sport, which can be directly applied to teams in emergency and acute medicine.
